Compost pickup in Manhattan
Manhattan is mostly buildings rather than storefronts, so most of what we collect here comes off a loading dock or out of a service corridor rather than off a sidewalk. Badging, security and escort get arranged once, before the first pickup, and then the stop runs like any other.
The minimum per pickup is higher here than in Brooklyn, at $100, because the crossing costs the van real time. It is the same $25 a bucket either side of the river, so a building putting out a proper load pays the same rate as a Brooklyn kitchen; the minimum only bites on a very small stop.
A building with a cafeteria and kitchenettes on several floors can run each pantry as its own account, with separate weights and separate reports, and we apply the minimum once to the building rather than to each pantry.
